A Filipino bakery, one alley wide.
Friends & Family Bake sits in Unit 101 of 3 Fan Tan Alley, in Victoria's historic Chinatown, on what's often called the narrowest street in Canada. It's a small space with a big reputation: 531 Google reviews and a perfect 5.0 average, built one warm pandesal at a time.
Everything is made the traditional Filipino way: soft pandesal rolled in bread crumbs, ensaymada frosted with real ube (purple yam) or classic butter and cheese, and bicho-bicho twisted and dusted with sugar, fresh from the oven.
"Part of our proceeds support the Zoe Children's Home Foundation, helping children in the Philippines who can't afford school supplies." — from the Friends & Family Bake team
